Many Algarve pools are 20 or 30 years old. The question we hear most: is it worth repairing, or better to rebuild?
The three routes
- Targeted repair (€1,500–5,000) — cracks, joints, loose tiles. Right when the structure is sound.
- Reinforced liner (€6,000–12,000) — waterproofs over the old finish. Fixes chronic leaks and refreshes the look in one go.
- Partial rebuild (€15,000+) — for structural problems or a change of shape or depth.
Warning signs
- Losing more than 2–3 cm of water a week (beyond evaporation)
- Cracks that come back after repair
- Tiles coming loose in several areas
- A pump over 10 years old — a variable-speed replacement pays for itself in 2–3 years
A site visit with a leak test quickly tells us which of the three routes makes sense for your pool.
